Key Features of UbiqMap
Portable and lightweight, making it easy to transport and deploy in disaster scenarios
Utilizes radio frequency signals to create accurate floor plans
Designed for challenging conditions, such as those found in disaster zones
Does not require existing infrastructure, making it ideal for areas with limited or no connectivity
How UbiqMap Works
UbiqMap uses radio frequency signals to create a map of the indoor environment. This is achieved by transmitting a signal from a small antenna, which is then received by a receiver. The receiver processes the signal and uses it to create a 3D model of the space.
Enhancing the System for Better Performance
The system has shown great promise in its initial testing, with the team at IIT-Madras successfully demonstrating its capabilities in controlled environments.
The technology has been tested in various environments, including those with limited computing resources and in the field.
Independence from Visual Line of Sight: UbiqMap does not require a direct line of sight to the device’s camera or sensors. This makes it suitable for use in situations where the user’s line of sight is obstructed, such as in dense forests or underwater.
Low Reliance on Computing Resources: UbiqMap’s algorithm is designed to be lightweight and efficient, making it suitable for use in devices with limited computing power. This allows for seamless integration with a wide range of devices, from smartphones to drones.
Peer-Reviewed Research: The technology has undergone rigorous peer review, ensuring its accuracy and reliability.
